Lord of the Lost - Fears
CD-review
“Fears” is the debut album from goth
rock newcomers
Lord of the Lost. Lord of
the Lost started as a one-man-project
from Chris “The Lord” Harms, known from
bands like The Pleasures,
Big Boy &
UnterArt.

Lord of the Lost is a gothic rock band with a male vocalist from Hamburg,
Germany. Chris founded Lord of the lost to
bring new life into gothic rock. They definitely succeeded to do this
with the release of “Fears”. “Fears” is 13-
track album and starts with the dark song “Last
Words”, for which the band released a
video also. “Dry
The Rain” is
the first
single of “Fears” and is a
rockin’ song with a nice melody which will stay in your head for
sure!
One of my favorites, is since the first time I heard it on the Internet ,
“Till Death Us Do Part”. This
song is so powerful.
The combination of the music and Chris’ voice is brilliant, especially
the part where the solo guitar joins Chris’ voice
and they play together the song. Combined perfectly and the guitar keeps
on ‘crying’ when Chris’ voice explodes.
People always say that rock- and metal bands write the best ballads and
with “Sooner Or Later” and “The
Measure Of
All Things” that’s proven again. The
patient ones under us will figure out that “Fears” contains a very
nice melodic
hidden track.
It’s an album that has not one song on it, that is not good, you can
compare it with the album “The Black Halo”
of
Kamelot, that’s also an album with
only good songs on it. I’ve always said you love it or hate it,
decide it yourself and
support Lord of the Lost by buying “Fears” right now.
With “Fears” Lord of the Lost has gold in their hands and will be
(one of) the best 2010 release for sure!
I will interview Lord of the Lost in April about the release of “Fears”,
upcoming shows and more!

Denied - Demo 2009 CD-Review
Denied, a band from Stockholm Sweden,
recently recorded their 3 track demo
with new vocalist Johan Fahlberg (from the German band Jaded Heart).
The first thing I thought when I heard Denied with Johan as vocalist
was, this sounds exactly like Saxon. But when you listen longer you
hear that this is not Saxon, but something heavier and I really like
it.
The voice of Johan Fahlberg is darker/lower than the voice of Biff
Byford (Saxon) and the music from Denied is more straight ahead. No
pianos of industrial/electronic sounds. Just straight fast metal. It
is remarkable that Denied only has one guitarist, but while
listening to the band you don’t hear that. I still hear a strong
guitar sound, and I think that is
worth a compliment.
With this line-up Denied has something in hands that can make the
band big!

16.08.2009 Edges of Seven
- Born again Hard CD-Review
Edges of Seven (Eo7) from Vancouver,
Canada released their debut album, Born again
Hard, on August 23rd 2007. The album is dedicated
to the memory of bass player Ryan Smith, who passed away in August
2006.
Listening to Eo7 you can hear several influences from bands like
Metallica, Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry and some industrial
tones like you have with Rammstein. These things together makes the
sounds of Eo7 special. Somewhere the music sounds familiar but
because of the use of an important element, “originality”, Eo7 has its
own sound.
With manager Willobee Carlan (worked with
Korn) Eo7 has a good opportunity to get big in the scene and
hopefully can get some more cool gigs!
Tracklist “Born again Hard”:
1. Future Truth
2. I Hide
3. From Love to Hate
4. Caged
5. Fantasy Defined
6. Subnormal
7. Eternal
8. Bleed
9. Transparent

HDK -
System Overload CD-Review
HDK (Hate, Death, Kill) is the Project
of After Forever guitarist Sander Gommans.
When you hear the first song you think that this is a pure death
metal album, with a lot of grunting and ‘loud guitars’. But
continuing listening you will hear more thrash metal influences but
also some gothic metal influences.
The line-up for these CD exists of, next to Sander, Peter Vink (Star
One & Thin Lizzy Tribute Band) on bass and Arien van Weesenbeek (Epica)
on drums.
Sander had the help from several known guest musicians, for example,
Amanda Sommerville from Avantasia & Aina. With her beautiful voice
she gives the songs a special tint. Definitely a very good choice.
The other guest musicians are:
Joost van den Broek on keyboards (After
Forever),
Arjen Lucassen on guitar (Ayreon),
Marcel Koenen on guitar (Sun Caged,
Stormrider),
Bastiaan Kuiper on guitar (Stormrider,
Engine of Pain),
Andre Matos on vocals (Aina, Avantasia,
Luca Turilli),
Jos Severens
on vocals (Stormrider, Up the Irons),
Patrick Savelkoul
for grunts (Callenish
Circle),
Mike Scheijen for screams (37
Stabwoundz),
Paul Niessen on vocals (I Witness &
Rage on Stage).
There is now just one thing left to say. Go and get this album! It
sounds great (I even liked the death metal parts
which I normally don’t listen too) and the artwork is intriguing.
Tracklist “System Overload”:
1.
System Overload
2. Request
3. Let Go
4. Terrorist
5. Pedestal
6. On Hold
7. Breakdown
8. March
9. Perfect
10. Fight or Flight
11. Fine Lines
